Located 220 kilometres north of Broome on the Dampier Peninsula, Kooljaman at Cape Leveque is situated on a beautiful part of the coastline dominated by spectacular Pindan cliffs. It’s a remote paradise offering a quiet place to get away from it all.

Kooljaman has developed accommodation and activities to suit a wide range of budgets. Ranging from deluxe safari tents with spectacular views of the ocean, charming cabins, budget units and our popular palm fronded beach shelters. If you prefer to camp you could pitch your tent in our campground, choosing between shady sites or sites with scenic views over Western beach.

Enjoy take-away style lunches overlooking the ocean or in the evening dine out on the verandah at Dinka’s our seasonal restaurant (April-October. Breakfast is available for guests in bedded accommodation. A small general store sells basic items throughout the season.

Scenic flights over the Buccaneer Archipelago or Glass Bottom Boat Tours are great ways to see this spectacular area and leave regularly from Kooljaman.

Enjoy tranquil beaches, try your luck fishing, hire a dinghy, go snorkelling off our reef, join local Aboriginal guides on a bush tucker tour or simply relax and enjoy our remote wilderness camp.

Room Details
Safari TentNot to be confused with traditional camping! These huge tents are built high on the hillside nestled below the lighthouse with unobstructed panoramic ocean views.

Set up with resort style queen size beds (one queen and two singles) all tents have their own bathrooms/kitchenettes. Each tent has an outdoor setting and a gourmet gas barbecue on a shaded jarrah deck, quality fixtures and fittings throughout, tea/coffee facilities and a full size fridge/freezer. Bath towels and bed linen provided.
En-suite CabinCharming cabins, set in a bush garden with big opening shutters and their own bathroom. Located no more than 50 metres to the water’s edge.

The open plan en-suite cabins have a queen size bed and three single beds. Each cabin has a fridge/freezer, tea and coffee making facilities, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, outdoor setting and barbecue. Bath towels and bed linen provided.

Campground UnitThe units are located in the campground. Each sleeps up to four people (one queen bed and two singles) and contains ceiling fans, fridge/freezer, basic camping style cooking equipment, tea and coffee making facilities and all linen and bath towels.

There is an outdoor setting and gas barbecue at each unit. Ablution facilities are located next door and shared with the campground. Minimum two night stay applies.
Mini Safari TentThis accommodation is located within the campground and contains a fan, futon bed and chest of drawers. Guests can either bring their own bed linen or hire the bed linen for only AUD5.00.

The bed configuration is either a double bed or two single beds. A verandah, complete with a couple of chairs is located outside the dome tent. Ablution and cooking facilities and a refrigerator/freezer are located nearby, which is shared with other campers.
Beach SheltersIf you are set up for camping, but want something a little different, then these are probably for you. The beach shelters are located on the beach front close to the water's edge and are made from bush poles with palm frond roof and walls and a sand floor. Each shelter has a picnic table, open fresh water shower and a wood barbecue. Shared ablution facilities are located nearby.
CampingThere are 23 powered and unpowered sites located in a grassed area with some shade cover, wood barbecue's are situated throughout the campsite. Ablutions and laundry facilities are located nearby.

Children Catered ForMost rooms are set up for families. Activities suitable for childeren include cultural tours, mud crabbing, fishing, snorkelling, swimming, interpretaive walks and dinghy hire.
Access CarKooljaman at Cape Leveque is 220 kilometres north of Broome via a 4 wheel drive Track. The track is not suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles. We are unable to take caravans. The drive takes approximately 3 hours, though times can be longer if road conditions are not good (usually January to March). Please call ahead to check road conditions. Our restaurant is seasonal and not all products or servcies are always available. Please call to confirm availablilty for products or services. Kooljaman is owned by two Aboriginal communities. No permit is required to get to Cape Leveque, though day entry fees are required for visitors not staying overnight.
Cancellation PolicyCredit card details or deposits are taken as security on all bookings. Any changes must be made at least 14 days prior to arrival, or you may be liable to pay for accommodation if we can not resell it.
